Marsden Park Elara: What's in the news recently?

Marsden Park Elara is located 49 km north-west of the Sydney Commercial Business District in the local government area of the City of Blacktown. The free community bus service that was launched in November 2018 to help commuters get to and from Schofields Railway Station is due to cease in November 2019. With the future of the free shuttle remaining uncertain, Elara residents are calling on the State Government to improve bus services.

Thanks to the 40 hectares of green open space, Elara residents have more than 7 kilometres of cycling pathways and dog-friendly walking trails, 24 hectares of parklands, exclusive exercise spaces and huge playing fields.

A water-themed all-inclusive playground called Livvi’s Place is open to the residents of Marsden Park Elara and neighbouring suburbs. The $3.2 million park and entertainment centre features a state-of-the-art facilities building, multi-play sports fields, an expansive water play zone with adventure features such as swings, slides, flying fox, climbable nets, merry-go-round, fun glider, trampoline loop, musical features such as steel drums, tubular bells and talking tubes and a basketball half-court. To make sure children with all abilities can avail the services, the facilities come with wheelchair-accessible structures, soft-fall rubber flooring, and sensory spaces with visual and audio stimulation.

Blacktown City Council collaborated with the Touched by Olivia Foundation and Marsden Park Primary School for this project.

And there’s more – Proposal for a $35 million central shopping village that will include a community hub with retail and dining experiences, a supermarket, multipurpose halls and meeting rooms, a 24-hour gym, childcare facilities and medical centres that provide quality and affordable healthcare services and an expansive car park are in the pipeline.
